Blog vs Live Journal

So when did Blogs become Live Journals? Just curious. I thought I was cool and down with the lingo (my first mistake, I know) and then all of the sudden it's Live Journal. I learned about this for the first time last year when I wrote a paper in which I analyzed Chip's Blog using this annoying method that uses quantitative methods to do qualitative work. Perhaps I could send it to Chip and he could put it up with a link? I did end up with some pretty pictures. My second encounter with the Live Journal lingo was today. I ran into a friend who was writing on his Live Journal. Whatever, I think it sounds pretentious, and I much prefer Blog. Plus, it rhymes with Glog. Nonetheless, it did shame me into writing, as I have been sorely remiss. Especially after Chip spent time over the Christmas getting me up and running again. I will try to be more faithful, but I'm not making any promises.

Speaking of pretension, it's Film Festival time in Santa Barbara and I really just find myself wanting to yell and curse at all the "industry" people that descend upon "our quiet little beach community". You're not as fucking cool as you think and you're film probably sucks. It's like film studies student annoyance factor * 100. I hate film studies students, they're industry types in training - especially this close to LA. I'll take the geeks at the Comic-Con any day.

Speaking of the great Geek-Out. I might just have to go again this year. My friend Jay and I have a GREAT money making scheme, but I of course can't mention it here, or someone might steal it, but suffice it to say, it’s big. On other geek fronts I recently purchased Lord of the Rings Risk (Trilogy Edition). I've played it a couple of times and I've enjoyed. I like that you can chose to be the forces of good or evil, but there are a lot of rules I haven't quite figured out. However, you can skip all of those and just play it like regular Risk.

Lemmeknow when you're in the LA area (slumming it with the damn Hollywood types). Hope to see you at some point. Good luck surviving the pretention in your neighborhood. It'll go away soon. I promise.
