Catching up....

My roommate is moving out. He and his girlfriend are shacking up. The announcement was a bit abrupt. I was told very bluntly on Monday and he’s already found a place starting on the first of March. I would have appreciated a bit more notice, but what are you going to do? At least I’ll have most of the month of March to myself. I have had a few hits from my Craig’s Listing. One has a cat, so that’s a no go. One seems to sell snake oil for corporations, and the final is a massage therapist. Would it be weird to get massages from your roommate? It’s only the first day, so I’m not going to rush into anything. What do you guys look for in a roommate?

In other news, the short film “Fluffy” that I worked on a few years ago has been accepted into its third film festival. This one is in Austin. Okay, so I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t this a bit hypocritical? Wasn’t Sara just ranting about the SB Film Festival and “the Industry”? Well, 1) it was my experience working on this film that in part reinforced my hatred for “the industry” and 2) my problem with the SB film festival is that it is very Hollywood, something that is generally missing from the smaller festivals that “Fluffy” has made it into. Film students still suck.

Memories....

I believe Jack is the cutest baby in the world. I'm so glad to see some pictures of him and to read about how he's doing. Keep'em coming. You are all in my thoughts.

In other news. I just got a phone call from Amy Montgomery. That probably only means something to a few of you. Weird. Some alumni thing. My mother gave her my number. I'll have to talk to her about giving out my personal information like that - althouth I did always like Amy, I just didn't really like Athens Academy.

Okay, back to work.

Blog vs Live Journal

So when did Blogs become Live Journals? Just curious. I thought I was cool and down with the lingo (my first mistake, I know) and then all of the sudden it's Live Journal. I learned about this for the first time last year when I wrote a paper in which I analyzed Chip's Blog using this annoying method that uses quantitative methods to do qualitative work. Perhaps I could send it to Chip and he could put it up with a link? I did end up with some pretty pictures. My second encounter with the Live Journal lingo was today. I ran into a friend who was writing on his Live Journal. Whatever, I think it sounds pretentious, and I much prefer Blog. Plus, it rhymes with Glog. Nonetheless, it did shame me into writing, as I have been sorely remiss. Especially after Chip spent time over the Christmas getting me up and running again. I will try to be more faithful, but I'm not making any promises.

Speaking of pretension, it's Film Festival time in Santa Barbara and I really just find myself wanting to yell and curse at all the "industry" people that descend upon "our quiet little beach community". You're not as fucking cool as you think and you're film probably sucks. It's like film studies student annoyance factor * 100. I hate film studies students, they're industry types in training - especially this close to LA. I'll take the geeks at the Comic-Con any day.

Speaking of the great Geek-Out. I might just have to go again this year. My friend Jay and I have a GREAT money making scheme, but I of course can't mention it here, or someone might steal it, but suffice it to say, it’s big. On other geek fronts I recently purchased Lord of the Rings Risk (Trilogy Edition). I've played it a couple of times and I've enjoyed. I like that you can chose to be the forces of good or evil, but there are a lot of rules I haven't quite figured out. However, you can skip all of those and just play it like regular Risk.
