December 1, 2003

Well, I went to Vegas for turkey day and I had a blast. Lots of eating and craps playing was involved. At one point I was up, but I guess I didn't learn my lesson from all those bad sitcom plots where people didn't quit when they were ahead. Oh well, it is an investment in joy. The van we rented had a DVD player in it. It was totally swanky. It made the drive through the desert a little more bearable.

At the moment, I'm at my much hated evening tutoring shift. I have to work from 6-10 and it blows. It didn't sound so bad when it was offered. I can always use some extra money, but it is not worth it. Luckily, this is the last time I have to do it. My brain simply doesn't work after 5pm. I just get cranky and mean and that's not really a sound pedagogical stategy.

In other work related news, there is an impending TA strike in the UC system. I will be striking, but it looks like it will not be official as the strike may very well begin after the last day of tutoring. Ultimately this is good news, but there is a part of me that really didn't want to work this week. However, after Vegas I need all the money I can get.
