Just because I'm not paranoid...

Sometimes it seems as though the whole world is conspiring against me (some might call this paranoia, I call it perception). Anyway, I TRIED to blog and I couldn't get to the spynotebook, but realizing that this really is no excuse, I am now writing my blog in WORD and will hopefully transfer it later today.

Blogger is once again proving to be an excellent procrastination tool. I am supposed to be working on my thesis right now, but I was irresistibly drawn to the spynotebook. However, I probably shouldn't waste too much time, as I am on a strict time line. I must turn in a draft of my thesis in order to go to Vegas next month. This rule is firm. However, I did get two articles read this morning and I spent roughly 4 hours writing yesterday (plus a few hours organizing material), so I feel that I'm justified in taking a few moments for all of you.

Life in Santa Barbara is much as usual. Since I have been back (roughly 2 weeks) I have been bowling (I'm totally up for a bowling team by the way) I've seen numerous movies (Lord of the Rings, In the Bedroom and Hedwig and the Angry Inch) and consumed numerous alcoholic beverages. Additionally, I played Charades for the first time in many, many years and it was quite enjoyable. This was after consuming potato pancakes and cabbage in honor of my friend John's Polish heritage. Lastly, I went to Ojai for the first time. For those you who are unfamiliar with California Ojai is seen as the center of new age thinking and it also happens to be quite beautiful. In fact, Capra chose Ojai to represent Shangri-La in his movie Paradise Lost. It is also where Dylan would go to visit his mom on Beverly Hills 90210. It was a lovely day and I acquired a vintage dress, scarf and two shirts for the low, low price of $4. I love thrift shopping! Plus, I get the added bonus of not supporting current unfair labor practices in the clothing industry.

Now I must return to my work. After three hours of helping students locate their thesis statement, I need to go and refine mine.

Later
