what I learned in graduate school

Well, first I have to say that I feel really lame. I just checked out the journals for the first time in a while, and it seems as if I'm the only loser who isn't keeping up with my entries. Not to mention everyone else has jazzed their page up. This is what I get for being in grad school -- it really sucks your will to live, much less post journal entries. It does, however, have its cool moments. I'm taking a seminar on theories of popular culture and we spent last week reading about Star Trek pornography; this is also commonly know as "Slash" fan fiction. Slash exists in a variety of forms these days, but Kirk and Spok is where it all began. Anyway, I was unaware that Spok has a green, double ridged penis. This is what I'm learning in grad school. I'm also TAing for a class which is looking at gender and race in film. This has also been great fun. The only trouble is that my MA has not been worked on at all. I'm avoiding my advisor like the plague and praying that I can find some time to transcribe ASAP.

On the non-school side -- I recently went down to LA to see the Kids in the Hall - They were TERRIFIC! I highly recommend that you guys go see them if you get the chance. I also recommend that everyone go see the Cradle Will Rock. It's a great movie with great politics. Later, Sara
