Warming Up

And heading out for some karaoke action. Woo hoo! Aleta gave us this great guide to local karaoke locales. We're choosing Amagi tonight (dinner first). Woo hoo! It's good. I haven't done regular karaoke in years (used to go weekly AT LEAST back in 1999 and 2000). Good times.

See y'all there, party people!

Fan Mail

It's just way humbling. Every day this week, I've received either an email or snail mail with a thank you note inside. Not just your average ordinary thank you note... a real, sincere, warm, thoughtful thank you note FROM SOMEONE I'VE NEVER MET.

Just wild. When the first one came, I thought, "Wow. How cool. Neat." And stuff like that.

The second one came and I thought, "What a cool week! I'm so happy!"

And today, when the fourth one came, I pretty much cried. That book has meant something to people. I really did the right thing by writing it. Wow.

How often do we get confirmation that we're doing exactly what we're supposed to do in life? Wow. That's pretty dang cool.

And HA HA HA... there's the Law & Order Coloring Book. Hee hee.

And I really like this little game from BrYan. Feel free to repost my repost of his repost.

You've seen it around. Bold the states you've been to, underline the states you've lived in and italicize the state you're in now, add countries you've been to at the end.

Alabama / Alaska / Arizona / Arkansas / California / Colorado / Connecticut / Delaware / Florida / Georgia / Hawaii / Idaho / Illinois / Indiana / Iowa / Kansas / Kentucky / Louisiana / Maine / Maryland / Massachusetts / Michigan / Minnesota / Mississippi / Missouri / Montana / Nebraska / Nevada / New Hampshire / New Jersey / New Mexico / New York / North Carolina / North Dakota / Ohio / Oklahoma / Oregon / Pennsylvania / Rhode Island / South Carolina / South Dakota / Tennessee / Texas / Utah / Vermont / Virginia / Washington / West Virginia / Wisconsin / Wyoming

Washington D.C.

Germany / Spain

Purdy cool. I used to have a wall map mounted on foam core with pins for everywhere I'd been, a different color pin for everywhere I wanted to go, with another color for the place I NEXT wanted to or planned to go. I gave it to Chip when I moved to LA. Along with the bear chairs.

Wanna see the flyer for my upcoming speaking thingy in New York? It's here in PDF form! The basic details are these: Tuesday, February 24th, 5pm, Drama Book Shop, NY! Woo hoo! It's free! Do come!

Also just got some photos from a long-ago HHH, the most recent HHH, and other assorted "finish up this roll of film" type photography. I'll have 'em uploaded and linked later today.

Very very very very happy that Chip got the forums back up and running. Yay!

Oh, and all of the above goodies that came before that BrYan goodie are from the greatness that is Chip. THANKEE! Yay!

Okay... back to work. For now.

There. I feel better now. Three. Three entries on the main page. Ahh, ahh, ahh.

Home Again, Home Again...

It's actually VERY difficult to be at home and AVOID anything that would tell me how things are going on the Golden Globes right now. I really appreciate the FEW award shows that are, in fact, aired live (yes, even at 5pm here), especially ever since that awful Emmy issue on NBC, 2002 (blogged about here, during last year's Golden Globes). Since the Golden Globes will gear up on TV in a few minutes... after they've been going on for three hours down the street... I've been formatting the photos from our trip to San Francisco. And unpacking. And reading a zillion emails. And begging the cats to forgive me for having left them alone for 54 hours. Sheesh! You guys hadn't even eaten all of your food yet! What did you have to be mad at us about?

Getting really excited about our travels to Atlanta, Athens, and New York next month (and for the staged reading for Perfect, which will take place just before we leave). Time to hammer out some of the more major details, but it's all coming together nicely, which makes me happy.

Oh! AND I'm actually getting excited about writing my third book! I had sort of "back-burnered" it, after all of the excitement over the second book. Since I knew there was no way the third could ever be as big as the second, I didn't want to set myself up for any sort of let-down. So, when I found myself REALLY eager to get Casting Calendar: An Actor's Datebook and Action Log started during our trip, it made me very happy. Hm. I guess I am a writer. Cool.

Back to the staged-reading thingy... I need a nine year old(ish) boy. No... not in the Michael Jackson sense of the phrase. So, if anyone knows of a "still has the baby fat on him" type brat character, I could use his help in a couple of weeks.

Okay, go see the photos from the trip. Comment. Have fun. XXOO

See y'all when we're back. Woo hoo!

Ants vs. Fleas

Keith and I were having a hot debate. Maybe you folks out there could help us settle it.

What's scarier: ants or fleas?

Without telling you who believes what, let's just say that Keith and I believe the opposite about the fear-inducing qualities that these critters possess.

Fear of Ants: you could just be standing there and then suddenly, your whole foot could be covered in ants. They know how to mobilize and act as a team. They could all get together and carry you off. Amazingly well-organized and good at communicating.

Fear of Fleas: they can suddenly be in one place and then hop away into some unseen place, only to bite and suck and show up somewhere else on another hop. They can live, unchecked, feasting on their hosts and never be caught. Independent and sluethy.

So... weigh in, will ya? I know I'm right about which is the most terror-inducing. Back me up, okay?

Totally Neglected To Mention...

that today is my 1/2 birthday! Woo hoo!

And, if you want to see some really amazing news, you should check out FaithSalie.com and see all the new press photos Faith's got from Significant Others. They're shooting commercials for it next week! Ack! So excited!!

Okay, time for bed. I have a big meeting in the morning and need to attempt to get five hours of sleep. Might as well start now, since it's not likely to work. Still, stranger things have happened. Tee hee.

Well, Now...

That's just funny. Funny in that you have got to be kidding me kind of way.

I have not worked for Back Stage West for nine months. We did not part ways on the most pleasant of terms. Still, they are--and always have been, per our contract--able to republish my work forever and ever without paying me for it.

That's cool. Whatever.

Well, today I get this email from the Managing Editor of the paper. She's been sent a copy of the [get this] CHAPTER I CONTRIBUTED TO THEIR FORTHCOMING BOOK along with some editorial guidelines passed down from New York, asking me to do the edits and get it back to them this week.

Um, what?

So, I call her. I recognize the article, of course. It's one I wrote for the paper itself in the course of my regular gig as a columnist for those three years.

I'VE NEVER EVEN HEARD ABOUT THIS BOOK, MUCH LESS CONTRIBUTED TO IT WITH MY KNOWLEDGE!

And now they'd like me to edit the piece?

OMGTTFFTIHERIMEL!!!

Wow. That's a hoot!

Tell ya what... I'll edit the piece for you. My rate is $500/hr. and I'm sure it'll take me at LEAST ten hours to do. HOWL!!!!!!!!!

Still Tweaking

I still definitely have some things to fix in this new Blog setting (now Movable Type) in order to get it all looking like I want it to look. But... I'm way too busy with a zillion other things to spend time reading the MT manual. Later.

'Til then...

Quick notes

LOVING 2004. LOVING it.

Went to see Big Fish. Amazing. Ah. May. Zing. Wow. Go see it.

Love my new favorite low-carb food store. Wow! Awesome store. Great selection. Happy to support the little business here in the big city.

Shorts Fest Saturday. Can't wait.

Hollywood Happy Hour Tuesday. Can't wait.

Lots of big meetings and lunches and all sorts of important kicking-off-the-new-year-in-a-kick-ass-way kind of stuff. So cool.

There's more, but I'm tired. Bed now. Yes... before midnight. Wow. So much going on!
